Litter Monster Artist Commission

Eden Catchment, Cumbria
March - June 2018
Commission budget: £10,000

We would like to invite expressions of interest from an Artist (or Artistic collective) to work on a project primarily focused in Carlisle as part of our Cherish Eden project funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund.

The commission offers an opportunity for an artist (or artist collective) to design, develop and deliver a creative project working with schools in areas affected by litter, which will result in the creation of a large, eye-catching ‘Litter Monster’. The ‘monster’ will be a ‘focal point’ installation within the forthcoming Eden Rivers’ Wonder World exhibition at Tullie House Museum and Art Gallery, Carlisle (June – September 2018) and will help raise public awareness of the issues of litter around and in rivers.

The project will involve the artist delivering a number of workshops that encourage children to help their local river environment and, through creativity and the arts, share and express their ideas and experiences of the river.

For further information plus details of how to apply, please download the Litter Monster Artist Brief or contact, Tania Crockett, Learning Coordinator,; 01768 866788.

Deadline for expressions of interest: Monday 19th February (by 12 noon).
