He is a keen conservationist and Chairman of the Cumberland Water Vole Project Steering Group, a partnership with Eden Rivers Trust, the Cumbria Wildlife Trust, Environment Agency, and Natural England. Louise Heathwaite BSc., PhD, lives and farms near Tebay.A Professor and Director of the Centre for Sustainable Water Management in the Lancaster Environment Centre at Lancaster University. A keen environmentalist, (slow) fell runner and fan of rough fell sheep.
