Go Wild beat No22 River Caldew-Hesket Bridge
800m of single right bank riverbank fishing
This beat runs from Hesket Bridge upstream for 800m or so, this part of the river is heavily affected by flow and rainfall. Just above the beat part of the river diverts underground for several km and does not rejoin the river till further down.
This section of the river runs extremely low in the summer so is more suitable for the start and end of the season or after long periods of rain in the summer
Mainly small brownies and juvenile fish but plenty have been seen in the river.
Go Wild is our innovative roving voucher angling scheme. We have 28 challenging fishing beats spread throughout Cumbria’s beautiful Eden valley. The beats are all on private land, accessible only via the Go Wild scheme and are all real hidden gems.
Go Wild has been designed to provide a sustainable income for farmers and landowners, focusing particularly on stretches of river where habitat improvement work has been carried out.
