Tree management

Trees and woodland on the riverbanks can provide an improved habitat for wildlife as they can reduce erosion and provide variety and shade. The best fish populations, particularly trout, are normally found in streams with around 50% shade.

The Eden Rivers Trust has carried out over 48 ha of woodland planting in the past and will be looking to carry out more in the future where wooded areas have been lost from riparian zones.
