The Eden Rivers Trust is the only charity dedicated to the conservation and protection of the River Eden, its tributaries and its surrounding countryside.

We raise funds and work in partnership with others to carry out research on the health of the river environment, undertake habitat restoration projects and educate people about the importance of their environment.

To date we have carried out habitat restoration works, conducted electro fishing surveys at up to 300 sites each year, worked with around 40 schools a year and pioneered a new surveying technique; R.A.R.E.

We believe that the River Eden is a precious freshwater resource that everyone should be proud of. We want to encourage people to enjoy their Eden and, through education, enable them to help us look after it.

New Land Rover Defenders!

The work of Eden Rivers Trust has received a significant boost from the sponsorship of two new Land Rover Defenders from Lloyd Land Rover Carlisle.  Click here for more details.

Calling all Volunteers!

If you would like to join us in protecting the river, we have exciting volunteer opportunities, from electrofishing to crayfish survey, and would really appreciate your help.  Click here for more details.

Save the native white-clawed crayfish!

This is a rare and protected species found in the Eden which is under threat from the larger introduced North American signal crayfish and the fungal disease, crayfish plague, which it carries.  We all need to do our bit NOW!  Click here for more details.

Pollution: If you need to report a pollution incident on the River Eden or its tributaries please contact the Environment Agency on 0800 80 70 60 (24 hours a day, 7 days a week).
